Once In A Lifetime Sailing Trip That Changed Our Lives

It was 2010, we were newly engaged, and we embarked on the journey of a lifetime - a 2 week sailing trip on a catamaran in the British Virgin Islands. Accompanying Murray's mom and step-father, as well as family friends Lura and Captain Jim, we weren't quite sure what to expect. We were simply told that it was going to be the trip of a lifetime. Imagine, if you will, a farm girl who grew up far from any body of water, whom had nearly drowned at 5 years old and had a slight fear of water. My mind played tricks on me all the way up until the trip. To this day, I hold a fear that sharks will come out of the depths of the Oceans and swallow me whole... Ok, that applies to swimming pools when I am alone as well, but I know that's not reality. We spent the 2 weeks island hopping the British Virgin Islands, arguably one of the most beautiful places I have ever been yet. We hiked up "Treasure Island" aka Norman Island, snorkeled, saw dolphins, and at all kinds of interesting food. Goat rhotti or conch fritter anyone? Upon returning home, the slight depression that always sets in after coming back from vacation set in, and we started to think about living aboard a sailboat full time in the future. Eventually, we agreed on a plan for 2020, and we all know how that worked out. Then, 2025, and now 20266 seems to the most realistic date for setting sail. We hope you will follow along on our journey, as we are currently working to complete the build on our never been splashed 48 foot Bruce Roberts Spray.
